My name is Merle.  Aint I beautiful?  I was picked up with my brother by a nice couple while they were on vacation.  We had been hanging around the park for a couple of weeks.  The park ranger said we probably were dumped off.  So we wouldn't get hit on the road, they took us to the local dog pound only to find out it was a barn with cages where we would be held for 72 hours for our owners to come claim us.  Yeah right, like anyone was coming looking for us!  We would then be put to sleep because no one comes there to adopt dogs.  That meant by Monday morning we were going to be in big trouble!  Marlene, our new friend frantically worked all weekend to find us a rescue or no-kill shelter.  Everyone was full.  Oh dear.  She called Buckeye BC Rescue & explained that we were such very nice little guys.  They were full also, but our new friend offered to hold us a couple of days when space would open.  Marlene appeared right away on Monday morning & bailed us out!  Whew!  That was close!!!  We had a grand time on the car ride to rescue.  I went to the prison program where I learned all my basic obedience commands.  I need a little more work on the stay command.  I am very playful & kind of energetic.  I am afraid of really small children.  I need to build confidence cause I'm still young.
